This is a brilliant little blue zircon.
Often confused with the synthetic stone, cubic zirconia, this natural gem is earth mined primarily in Cambodia. When pulled from the ground it is typically an orange-brown colour, with rare occasions of clear, red, and green.
To obtain the brilliant blue colour, the stone undergoes a traditionally protected heat treating process. There is about a 70% chance of the stone turning yellow and a 30% of it turning blue. So, it really is quite a rare stone at considerable sizes.
